In order to advance and expand international cooperation and interactions in the scientific, research, and academic fields with Iraq, a delegation from Sharif University of Technology, headed by Dr. Mousavi, President of Sharif University, traveled to this country.
During this trip, Dr. Mousavi and his accompanying delegation met and discussed with Dr. Al-Aboudi, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Iraq, Dr. Hussein Flames, Advisor to the Prime Minister of Iraq, Dr. Ensaf, President of Baghdad University, Dr. Shafiq, Head of the Scientific Research Commission of the Ministry of Higher Education, and Dr. Fayyad Muhammad, Deputy Minister of Planning and Head of the Iraqi Standards and Quality Control Organization.
In separate meetings that took place, Dr. Al-Aboudi emphasized the position of Sharif University of Technology in the region and expressed interest in developing scientific cooperation. Dr. Mousavi also welcomed this issue and expressed his readiness to cooperate and exchange experiences in the form of establishing a branch of Sharif University of Technology in Baghdad.
Dr. Mousavi also visited some projects under development at Baghdad University in a meeting hosted by Dr. Ensaf, President of Baghdad University, which was attended by Dr. Hussein Flamers, Advisor to the Prime Minister of Iraq, and discussed scientific cooperation and exchange of experiences between the two universities. Baghdad University is ranked first in Iraq according to the QS ranking and has about 70,000 students and 6,000 faculty members.
Dr. Mousavi also met with Dr. Shafiq, Chairman of the Scientific Research Commission of the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education, and discussed with him the expansion of scientific cooperation between the parties.
At the end of this visit, Dr. Fayyaz Muhammad, Deputy Minister of Planning and Head of the Iraqi Standards and Quality Control Organization, hosted the President of Sharif University of Technology at the Iraqi Ministry of Planning. Dr. Fayyaz Muhammad, explaining the areas of activity of the Iraqi Standards Organization, announced his readiness for scientific cooperation in this meeting. Dr. Mousavi also emphasized cooperation and exchange of experiences in the field of reference laboratories. Then, the president of Sharif University of Technology visited the laboratories and became closely acquainted with the activities of the Iraqi Standards Organization.
